Preventing Concussions and TBI
Science of the head
A recent (2025) study from the University of Exeter published in The Journal of Head Trauma Rehabilitation reports that police officers are more than twice as likely to sustain traumatic brain injury (TBI) than the general public. Our focus at Team Wendy is on preventing TBI which can have damaging effects including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or much worse. Our ongoing research efforts center on learning the root causes of TBI and how to build a better helmet to mitigate them.
Concussions, or mild traumatic brain injuries (mTBI), can lead to life-altering forms of impairment. At stake is an individual’s ability to function physically, cognitively and psychologically and it is our goal to ensure our team goes home safely and thrives at the end of their mission.

Innovation
Team Wendy continues to conduct internal and independent testing to understand how helmet and liner designs can prevent cellular damage within the brain. We continually research new materials, structures, and sensor technologies with the goal of building the most protective helmet possible.

Materials
Our proprietary Zorbium® foam technology, formulated, blended and produced in our Cleveland, OH facility is what fuels our liner designed specifically for impact mitigation and energy absorption. In addition to our patented foam technologies, we have advanced our ballistic materials to mitigate impact forces and manage acceleration by bending and buckling under compression – effectively acting like the crumple zone in a vehicle.

Manufacturing
We passionately pursue excellence in design, continuous improvement, manufacturing, service and quality ratings. Since 2008, Team Wendy has held ISO 9001: 2008 Certification with Design, an international standard that specifies requirements for a quality management system (QMS) and demonstrates the ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Collaborations
Through multiple research partnerships with universities and government entities, Team Wendy goes beyond the equipment to focus on the brain itself.
